Cosmetic Nurse Injector’s 2024 Predictions on the Future of Filler

Is the filler era over? In this blog, we’ll be diving into busting filler myths… or should we say dissolving filler myths.

Clean girl aesthetic: the new beauty trend

With the rise of the ‘clean girl aesthetic,’ we’re seeing a *quieter* approach to beauty focusing on a natural look with gorgeous skin.

So… are people still getting fillers? Should you steer clear?

As nurse injectors who do this every day, we can tell you that filler is not dying. In fact, we’re seeing more filler clients than ever before. What’s changing is that we’re treating multiple areas instead of isolated areas.

Let’s talk about it.

Myths and facts about filler

Filler only lasts one year and then your body absorbs it all

While the hyaluronic acid in filler is compatible with your body, it won’t be fully absorbed. Layering of filler too often will lead to that puffy and unnatural look. This lack of balance can actually age you. For some clients, we *may* recommend dissolving unnatural or puffy filler and starting from scratch.

Filler will stay in place

Migration can and does happen. Most of it has to do with your natural anatomy → Thinner lips will be more prone to migration. Beyond anatomy, there are other factors like product choice and technique used.

The future of filler

🔮 More focus on balance with treatments like the 8-Point Lift

Facial Balancing AKA 8-point-lift enhances your natural features and restores balance. We look at your face as a whole and apply minimal amounts of filler strategically to make your features more even.

🔮 A goals-first approach to treatments

When we choose treatments from a goals-first approach, you may find that filler is just the tip of the iceberg and there are other treatments out there that can get you closer to the look you want.

For example, Sculptra! This treatment restores the natural volume we lose as we age. It’s good for skin quality and laxity and offers extremely natural results. While it’s not a filler replacement, this might be a good complementary treatment for a more natural result.

🔮 Better application techniques like Cannula Lips

A cannula is a safer and more comfortable alternative to the needles used to apply filler. It allows for more precise application and reduces the risk of bruising. The result? Super natural lips and less downtime.
