What can you do about stubborn fat?

We all have those areas that we can’t unsee when we look in the mirror, even if they’re perfectly normal. It could be a double chin you wish wasn’t there. Or maybe it’s the bra roll that makes you second-guess tank tops.

How we store fat is a genetic predisposition. Some of us are more prone to find localized fat in certain areas like the chin, above our knees, under our arms and even under our bum. That’s why sometimes, no matter how many hours we spend at the gym, those little fat pockets are still there.

If you want to tackle those little insecurities and boost your confidence, let us introduce you to… Deoxycholic acid - breaker of stubborn fat!

How does deoxycholic acid work for stubborn fat?

This treatment is also known as kybella or belkrya

It is a synthetic version of bile acid. When we inject an area with localized fat, the acid emulsifies it so it’s completely gone.

Where can I get deoxycholic acid injected?

The submental area (the double chin)

We most commonly dissolve fat in the submental area (the double chin). It’s the best non-invasive route! Often submental fat is genetic and gets worse as we age. All the diet and exercise won’t get rid of the stubborn fat under your chin. A series of 3 treatments will get rid of that fat and restore your jawline and slim your profile.

the bra roll - underarm fat

Females often have stubborn pockets of fat between their armpit and breast tissue. The truth is, it’s REALLY hard to lose fat from this area, even at an optimal weight most women still have it! With deoxycholic acid, we can target small pockets of fat, like around the armpit. The below picture is a series of 3 treatments over 3 months. Up to six treatments can be done depending on your goals.

We can also treat larger areas of stubborn fat!

Deoxycholic is best suited for small pockets of fat like under the chin or the armpit area. Some clients opt to treat larger areas of stubborn fat with Deoxycholic acid because they don’t want to do an invasive treatment such as surgery.

These areas include:

  • Love handles

  • Banana roll - under the bum

  • Inner and outer thighs

  • Above the knees

  • Small pockets of fat on the abdomen

  • Knees

*Full Transparency - This is a lengthy and expensive process to achieve results. Several sessions and several vials will be needed.

Wait till you hear the best part…

RESULTS ARE PERMANENT! Yup, you read that right. Once the fat cells are killed, no more fat can develop in that area. Typically, you’ll need 3 treatments to get full results.

It's also important to note that a common side effect of deoxycholic acid treatmentsis swelling in the treated area. This is a normal and expected reaction, as the acid works to break down the fat cells. However, we want to ensure full transparency and inform you of all potential side effects before you decide to undergo treatment.

The swelling typically subsides within a few days to a week, and can be managed with ice packs and over-the-counter pain medication. Some patients may also experience bruising or numbness in the treated area, but these side effects are temporary and should resolve on their own.

At Subtle Enhancements, we believe in providing our patients with all the information they need to make an informed decision about their treatment options. We're happy to answer any questions you may have about deoxycholic acid treatments, including the potential side effects, so that you can feel confident and comfortable throughout the process.
